Nuemd Selected As Technology Vendor Of Choice For New Statewide Crisis And Access Line

NueMD has been selected as the official software vendor for Behavioral Health Link (BHL), the manager and operator for the new Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL), 1-800-715-4225. The access line is the first state-wide access number and is funded by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases (MHDDAD).

NueMD is a practice management software solution that is delivered over the Internet. The product’s medical scheduling capabilities appealed to BHL team members, who need instant, round-the-clock access to the computer systems of multiple mental health care providers throughout the state.

‘When a call comes in from someone requiring behavioral healthcare services, we need to be able to immediately access the schedule of the mental health or substance abuse counselor in that person’s community, ascertain his or her availability, and make an on-the-spot referral,’ said Behavioral Health Link Chief Operating Officer David Covington, NCC, LPC, MBA. ‘As part of our evaluation process, we looked at several software vendors but chose NueMD because of its Internet-based delivery. It can operate on the varied computer systems used by our partner agencies and provide the ongoing data back-up, security, and technical support that are critical to BHL’s mission.’

Through Behavioral Health Link, GCAL will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Callers who access the line may talk with trained counselors or be connected to local services for mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse. Currently, 29 mental health agencies from around Georgia are part of Behavioral Health Link’s network on NueMD, including Northside Hospital; Grady Recovery; Fulton Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases; Cobb/Douglas CSB; and agencies in DeKalb and Clayton counties, as well as the following cities: Augusta, Columbus, Savannah, Athens, Macon, and Albany. Through NueMD, BHL has the ability to schedule services in 133 counties statewide.

‘Behavioral Health Link’s statewide service illustrates the benefits of using the Internet to deliver software,’ said Nuesoft Technologies President and CEO Massoud Alibakhsh. ‘We’re pleased that they opted for the NueMD model, which will afford them the ability to gain access to their applications from anywhere, at any time, and at a significantly lower cost.’
